This SSP and reading programme includes everything all staff in your school need to deliver this proven-to-work programme: Decodable Books for KS1 and for those in KS2 plus who need phonics; Phonics Cards; Phonics Wall Display materials; Table resources for Writing and the all- important Teacher Manual. The unique Power Phonics Assessment and Grouping System is a cornerstone of the programme and ensures rapid and sustained success in Phonics, Reading and Writing.
The programme is designed so that teachers, HLTA’s, TA’s and even ‘cover teachers for the day’, can deliver the programme at short notice and with complete consistency. Teaching Slides are also provided to minimise workload. It is also fully deliverable online either live or recorded with full guidance provided.
Power Phonics at home is also an important branch of the programme to ensure parents and carers can easily teach phonics, reading and writing at home in exactly the same way as at school.
Clear and consistent Phonics, Reading and Writing Routines are embedded throughout the programme. Children learn quickly what is coming next and begin to use the strategies with ease.

IMPLEMENTATION & SCHEDULING GUIDE
One Day Initial Training
One Day Initial Training is for all staff and includes everything needed to deliver the Power Phonics, with confidence. All aspects are covered including Power Phonics lessons, materials, assessment, tracking and intervention across the 8-week Next Steps Cycle. Training is delivered in an ‘all questions welcome’ and open environment, led by the original Power Phonics Teacher and Founder of the programme – Claire McKie.
Two Phonics Leaders per school
Two Phonics Leaders per school must be selected by Head Teacher’s before training and will join the Initial Training. During the One Day Initial Training, leaders will receive Power Phonics Assessment and Tracking Training as they will lead the 8-week Assessment Team in their school.
Termly Development Days
The Power Phonics Leaders will also attend the Termly Development Days across the implementation year. During this session, leaders will be asked to bring along evidence of their use of the Power Phonics Monitoring Tools and data. We will train Power Phonics Leaders to best support their staff and children using a school specific approach. UK Power Phonics Leaders with a proven track record of sustained success using the programme in their schools, will join development days to share their best practice from time to time.
